Skiing off the beaten path! Alpine ski touring offers a unique way to explore Métabief—and, above all, to experience the terrain of Mont d’Or from a fresh perspective. You leave the standard routes behind to reach the summits using only the power of your own legs.

Accompanied by a high-mountain guide or a state-certified alpine ski instructor, you will learn the techniques of ascending the mountain. The route is selected based on your skill level, your goals, and the day’s conditions.

About Alpine Ski Touring Outings in Métabief

Once you reach the summit, it’s time for the descent! Depending on conditions, you can explore off-piste areas and wooded sections. Your instructor will suggest a technical approach suited to the terrain and snow quality. It is an ideal experience for skiers looking to build their independence—and to discover another side of the Jura mountains.

Snowboarders can also join this activity. Using a splitboard, an equipment specifically designed for uphill travel—you can make the ascent before enjoying the thrill of snowboarding on the way down.

Schedules

Are you a snowboarder?

Snowboarders will need to use a splitboard for the outing. Most rental shops in Métabief offer touring equipment. For smaller sizes—particularly for teenagers—we recommend checking with EyjaSport. Splitboarders can also look to Downhill Shop in Morteau for equipment rentals.

Also, remember to bring clothing suitable for winter touring, a helmet, gloves, goggles or sunglasses, and a backpack containing water and a snack.
